General Manager
This is the overall head of the radio station,
charged with administrative duties and leadership
support for the station’s personnel. The General
Manager is generally active in the programs,
content creation, and production activities of the
station.
Controller
The controller, also referred to as ‘Programme
controller’, has the responsibility for leading the
station’s [program team. The controller ensures
programs meet the creative and commercial
needs of the station. He/she works closely with
the General Manager and other personnel within
the station, ensuring smooth running of
programmes and seamless executions of
production.
Senior Administrative Officer: Also referred to as
Admin 1, Level 9 officer
This personnel is tasked primarily with ensuring
personnel records and performance are duly
noted. The senior admin officer maintains a good
working relationship with members of staff, being
the bridge between them and the station’s
management. This department also sees to
enforcing guidelines in the station, and sanctions
for erring staff.
Senior Producer
This officer oversees the development of
programs to keep the station relevant and stay
ahead of competition. He/she also ensures
programmes are aired/produced and made
available for broadcast as at when due.
Senior Presenter
This personnel heads other presenters and
coordinates their activities. He/she ensures
adequate rotation of shifts, preparing rosters and
schedules for the station’s presenters.
It should be noted thus; at the end of the
hierarchy under the Senior Presenter and Senior
Producer, there is a designation labelled
‘Artistes’. This according to the VON admin
personnel who attended to the team, represents
talents who are often times engaged in the
production of radio programs; usually Industrial
Attachment students.
Senior Accountant
This is the head of the finance department in
Metro FM. Inquiry has shown this is a new
position by virtue of recent administrative
autonomy given to the station. The personnel
handles the station’s finances, ensuring optimum
accountability of income and expenditure.
Senior Auditor
The senior auditor works with the finance
department, primarily, in ensuring perfect
accountability and reconciliation of income and
expenses.
Senior Marketing Officer
The senior marketing officer is the principal driver
for revenue in the station. He/she coordinates the
marketing department where there are other
marketing staff, working assiduously to garner
patronage from program sponsors and
advertisers.
