The forward has voiced out his interest in representing the country in the 2016 Olympics Games amidst claims that he would be unavailable.
Nigeria international Odion Ighalo has declared
himself ready for the 2016 Rio Olympics
football event.
The striker was included in Siasia's 35-man
preliminary squad for the tournament as one
of the overage players vying for the three
available spots in the Dream Team VI squad ,
and the 27-year-old has stated dismissed
claims that he would not be available.
"No! No!! No!!! That’s just a rumour," Ighalo
told The Cable . “Which player in the world won’t want to be at the Olympics?
“I have said it several times that it is one of my dreams to play at the Olympics.
“I never said I won’t be there and there’s no
issue concerning my availability for the games.
“I wish the Olympics were now, now, now. I wish to play in it right away,” he concluded.
Ighalo scored 17 goals in 42 appearances for
Watford last term, and coach Samson Siasia would be banking on the Watford forward to strengthen his attack.
