The Obelisco in downtown Buenos Aires is the planned venue for a mass demonstration invfavour of the captain staying on, after he retired following Copa America defeat
Fans of Lionel Messi in Argentina have called
for a massive march in the centre of Buenos
Aires to persuade their hero to carry on in the
national team.
Over 100,000 people have so far expressed
interest in the rally, which has been publicised
on Facebook and has as a venue the Obelisco
monument.
The Obelisco is traditionally where fans gather
to celebrate titles for either local clubs or the
national team, but those going on Saturday
plan to protest against their captain's
international retirement.
"This Saturday June 2 at 6pm (10pm BST) we
are all going to the Obelisco to show him our
affection and our hopes he will continue
wearing the Argentina shirt," the event page
states.
"Come on Messi, don't give up on us!!!"
Argentina's greatest footballer of all time Diego
Maradona has pleaded with country man and
current Argentina captain Lionel Messi not to
retire from International football following
Argentina's Copa America Centenario final loss
to Chile.
After losing his fourth final for his country - after
the World Cup two years ago and the Copa
America in 2007 and 2015 - an emotional Messi
said: 'That's it. It's over for me with the
national team. But Maradona has urged the
Barcelona man to think carefully about his
future.
'Messi has to stay in the national team.
He will go to Russia in form to be world
champion,' Maradona told Argentine daily
La Nacion. He has to rely more on boys
who can help take the team forward and
less on those who say they have to go.
Those who are saying he should quit are
doing it so that we won't see what a
disaster Argentine football has become.'
Messi's plan to retire comes as the Argentine
Football Association (AFA) implodes after the
AFA's presidential election was recently marred
by controversy and uncertainty.
Maradona added:
'I am very sorry and very angry with
what is happening to Argentine football.
We hit bottom, we reached the bottom.'

Deputy Senate President, Senator Ike
Ekweremadu, on Tuesday wrote the United
Nations, European Union, United States’
Congress, European Union Parliament,
Governments of United States, United Kingdom
and other foreign missions, over his trial for
alleged forgery of Senate standing rules.
Ekweremadu raised the alarm over what he
described as attempt to truncate Nigeria’s
democracy and “silence him as the leader and
highest ranking member of the opposition in the
country, all in the name of prosecuting an alleged
forgery case.”
The letter is a two-page document, entitled: “Re:
Trumped up charges against the presiding officers
of the 8th Senate: Nigerian Democracy is in Grave
Danger,” a copy of which was sighted by our
reporter in Abuja.
Ekweremadu attached copies of the court
summons and other relevant documents relating
to the matter to his letter.
The deputy Senate president noted that he
wanted the international community, to “after
perusing the facts before them, decide whether or
not the trial was justified, or one purely borne out
of political vendetta.”
He insisted that neither his name nor that of the
president of the Senate, featured in the petition
filed by the aggrieved members of the Senate
Unity Forum (SUF) or during the investigation of
the petition by the police.
The Senate, through its committee on Judiciary,
Human Rights and Legal Matters, on Tuesday,
issued a fresh summon to the Attorney – General
of the Federation, who is also the Minister of
Justice, Mallam Abubakar Malami.
Malami was being invited by the senate for
instituting a forgery case against the presiding
officers of the upper chamber, and two top
management staff of the National Assembly.
The senate had first summoned Malami, following
a motion moved by Senator Dino Melaye,
representing Kogi West Senatorial District, who
relied on order 14 and 52, to demand the
approval of his colleagues for his two prayers
including the invitation of the AGF and the
genuineness of the rule book.
The senate, had approved the two prayers
through voice votes while Deputy Senate
President, Ike Ekweremadu, who presided over the
session, asked the Judiciary, to summon Malami,
within 48 hours and interrogate him on the issue.
The red chamber therefore mandated its panel to
within two days summon the AGF to explain and
justify with evidence the basis for his action.
The senators also wanted the committee to find
out from Malami to tell them, whether his action
did not constitute gross misconduct,
incompetence, contempt of court and abuse of
office.
Malami, did not honour the invitation of the
senators last week Thursday, but sent a letter to
the committee, stating his reasons for his
absence.
The senate panel in its fresh summon dated June
27 and signed by its Chairman, Senator David
Umaru, asked Malami to appear before it on
Thursday, by noon.
Part of the letter, a copy of which was obtained
by our correspondent on Tuesday, reads,
“I write with reference to your (AGF)
correspondence on the above subject matter with
Ref. HAGF/NASS/ZOIG/Vol.1/24, dated 23rd
June, 2016, whereby you requested for an
adjournment of the meeting of the Committee,
which was supposed to hold on Thursday, June
23, 2016, to enable you prepare your response.
“The Committee has considered your request and
having regard to the reason adduced, acceded to
the request for an adjournment.
“Accordingly, the meeting is now scheduled to
hold on Thursday 30th June 2016 at 12 noon
prompt.
“The venue is Senate Meeting Room 31.3, 3rd
Floor, New Senate Building, National Assembly
Complex. You are by this letter invited to appear
before the mentioned place above.”
The senate at plenary on Tuesday, after a two-
hour closed session, summoned Malami, over the
planned prosecution of Saraki and Ekweremadu,
for allegedly forging the Senate Standing Order
2015.

The naira fell to 351 to the United States dollar
at the parallel market and slightly to 282 at the
new interbank market on Monday.
Following the floating of the naira and the
adoption of a single structure through the
interbank/autonomous window, the currency
closed last week at 281 to the greenback at the
official market.
The President, Association of Bureau De Change
Operators of Nigeria, Alhaji Aminu Gwadabe, in an
interview with our correspondent, said the naira
dropped to 351 at the parallel market from
between 346 and 348 due to persistent liquidity
issue.
He said, “Lack of liquidity in both the interbank
and parallel markets is what is affecting the naira
exchange rate to the dollar.
“Right now, the only thing that the market is
scavenging for is the export proceeds. There is a
liquidity crisis.”
Asked if demands have shifted away from the
parallel market as a result of the new forex
policy, Gwadabe said, “How can demand shift
away from the parallel market when you have
about 41 items that cannot obtain forex from the
official market? You cannot completely kill the
black market, you can only formalise it.”
The Central Bank of Nigeria, which has been
intervening in the interbank market since it
abandoned its peg of N197-199 to the dollar,
asked for bid-offer quotes from currency traders
on Monday as it sold dollars at the interbank
market to boost liquidity, Reuters quoted traders
to have said.
After abandoning the naira’s 16-month old
exchange rate peg a week ago, the central bank
sold dollars at an auction to clear a backlog of
demand and keep markets active.
It sold an undisclosed amount of dollars on
Monday. However, the interbank market traded a
total volume of $32m just before the market
closed, which traders attributed to the central
bank’s intervention.
The interbank market opened at 8am with no
activity for more than three hours.
“Liquidity is still relatively thin,” one trader said,
adding that clients were waiting to see where the
naira settled eventually before they would begin
to participate in the market.
Currency traders on Monday said they had
tightened the differential between bids and offers
to N0.5 from one naira set when the currency
was floated last week to try to boost trading and
attract liquidity.
Prior to the old exchange rate peg, the currency
market traded on N0.5 spreads, they said.
Nigeria’s interbank market has traded for six days
after the central bank forex reforms. Traders are
expecting substantial currency flows from oil
companies and exporters to start to trickle in
from this week, they said.
The forward has voiced out his interest in representing the country in the 2016 Olympics Games amidst claims that he would be unavailable.
Nigeria international Odion Ighalo has declared
himself ready for the 2016 Rio Olympics

claims that he would not be available.
"No! No!! No!!! That’s just a rumour," Ighalo
told The Cable . “Which player in the world won’t want to be at the Olympics?
“I have said it several times that it is one of my dreams to play at the Olympics.
“I never said I won’t be there and there’s no

“I wish the Olympics were now, now, now. I wish to play in it right away,” he concluded.
Ighalo scored 17 goals in 42 appearances for
Watford last term, and coach Samson Siasia would be banking on the Watford forward to strengthen his attack.

Happy birthday Hon Minister of Power, Works and
Housing
Mr Babatunde Raji Fashola.
We pray for many more years in good health
Babatunde Raji Fashola, SAN (Yoruba: Babátúndé
Rájí Fáshọlá; born 28 June 1963) is Nigeria's
Federal Minister of Power, Works and Housing
and was Lagos State Governor from May 29,
2007 to May 29, 2015. As a candidate of the
Action Congress party, now known as the All
Progressives Congress, Fashola succeeded Bola
Ahmed Tinubu, on 14 April 2007,[1] and was
sworn in on 29 May 2007. He was re-elected
on 26 April 2011. On November 11th 2015, he
was appointed by President Muhammadu Buhari
to be the Minister of Power, Works and Housing.
The Lagos State Government on Monday set up a
Task Force to check the menace of land-grabbing
in the State, just at it vowed to tackle the
activities of land grabbers popularly calledOmo-
Onile with the full deployment of resources of
government and applicable law once and for all.
Speaking while inaugurating the Task Force, the
State’s Attorney General and Commissioner for
Justice, Mr. Adeniji Kazeem, said the
administration of Governor Akinwunmi Ambode is
determined to apply the full weight of the law to
permanently address the issue, adding that the
havoc and unrest being caused by land grabbers
was no longer acceptable.
He said henceforth, anybody who uses threat of
arms or physical threat to dispossess people of
their legitimate property will be treated as
criminals in accordance with Sections 52, 53 and
281 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State.
The Commissioner said it was noteworthy that
Section 281 of the criminal law included land as
things capable of being stolen, while Sections 52
and 53 of the law prescribe a jail term of two
years for any person who forcibly enters or takes
possession of land in a manner likely to cause a
breach of the peace against a person entitled by
law to the possession of the land.
According to Kazeem: “In recent years, land
grabbers have caused havoc and unrest in
different parts of the State by dispossessing
legitimate land-owners of their properties thereby
stifling commercial activities in the State.
“It is therefore important that the State
Government not only indentifies the effects of the
problems being perpetrated by these unscrupulous
elements on commercial activities and peace of
the citizenry but also finds lasting solutions to
the menace. That is the reasoning behind the set-
up of this Task Force.
“Furthermore, the need to protect investors and
maintain law and order also led to the setting up
of the Committee. This, by implication, will
encourage the verification of legal claims through
litigation rather than resorting to violence,” the
Attorney General explained.
The Task Force, according to Kazeem, can be
reached on 09096667123 and 09020085005 and
on email address via
omoonileTF@lagosstate.gov.ng.
Kazeem also disclosed that the State House of
Assembly was in the process of passing a law
that would exclusively deal with the activities of
land grabbers by prescribing appropriate stiff
punishment for offenders.
The terms of reference of the Task Force which
will operate under the supervision of the Attorney
General include: “To reduce to a barest minimum
the activities of persons or corporate entities who
use force and intimidation to dispossess or
prevent any person or entity from acquiring
legitimate interest and possession of property
acquired through State Government or private
transactions; to co-ordinate the efforts of the
various agencies of Government charged with
enforcing the State Government rights over land in
Lagos; and to work with all security agencies to
ensure enforcement of State Government and
private property rights in Lagos State.”
Members of the Task Force are Mr. Akinjide
Bakare, a Deputy Director in the Ministry of
Justice who will act as Alternate Chairman; Dr.
Afolabi Abiodun representing the Commissioner
for the Environment; Mr. Olayinka Wasiu Adebayo
and Mr. Faiq Abou both representing the Lands
Bureau; Mr. Saheed Kassim, Chief Security Officer
to Governor Ambode; Mr. Ganiyu Adebowale,
Commander of Governor’s Monitoring Team
(GMT) and Ms Mosunmola Balogun, who is to act
as the Secretary of the Task Force.
Responding on behalf of members of the Task
Force, Mr. Bakare pledged that though the terms
of reference was a very onerous task, the
Committee would rest on the might of the State
Government.
He said already petitions had been received from
several citizens including retired civil servants,
who had served the State meritoriously, adding
that it was pathetic that some people could
forcibly dispossess people of their legitimate
property, the more reason, according to him, why
the Task Force would vigorously pursue the
cause.
Ogun State Deputy Governor, Chief
Yetunde Onanuga, yesterday, escaped death in
Ibafo in Obafemi-Owode when suspected Niger
Delta militants engaged the security teams
accompanying her to some borderline
communities between Ogun and Lagos states,
which were sacked by militants. The deputy
governor accompanied by the service chiefs in the
state had embarked on an inspection visit to
Imushin, Elepete and Igbo-Olomu where some
people were killed by suspected militants when
the incident happened.
Onanuga was said to have been asked by
Governor Ibikunle Amosun to visit the place to
reassure residents of the commitment of the
authorities towards providing adequate security
for lives and property.
But the situation changed at Akoka Ebute area of
Ibafo, in Obafemi-Owode Local Government Area
when suspected militants opened fire on the
security operatives that accompanied the deputy
governor.
However, there was no casualty during the gun
battle which lasted for about 20 minutes.
Scores of people last Friday lost their lives when
the militants launched violent attacks on some
communities in the state.
Worried by the militants attacks, traditional rulers
from the affected communities went on a “save
our souls” mission yesterday and held a meeting
with the Secretary to the State Government, SSG,
Taiwo Adeoluwa, in Abeokuta.
After the meeting, a state delegation led by the
deputy governor visited the affected communities.
As an advance security team was approaching
the Ibafo creeks where the suspected militants
were believed to be hiding, a barrage of gunfire
ensued, forcing the law enforcement agents to
take cover.
Vanguard gathered that the security operatives,
comprising soldiers and policemen , responded
swiftly and repelled the suspected militants, who
later retreated deeper into the creeks and escaped
in the process.
The state delegation later made a detour from the
troubled area after the deputy governor had
assured the residents of commitment to their
safety.
Reacting to the gun battle, the SSG expressed
concern over the deteriorating security situation in
the affected communities and called for urgent
Federal Government’s assistance.
He said the exchange of gunfire between the
security operatives and the daredevil criminals in
broad daylight was regrettable.
Adeoluwa said, “It is a thing of regret that things
have gone so bad in our country; at this level, the
teams led by the deputy governor of the state
were not able to have access to a part of our
state. It means that without mincing words, the
Federal Government needs to get involved in this.
“This is something that is beyond the capacity of
the police. We need military task force like the
one we have in Niger Delta; It’s necessary and
desirable. As we can see in Elepete, Igbo-Olomu
and Imagbon, nothing can be compared with the
violence here in Ibafo.”
DEPUTY President of the Senate,
Senator Ike Ekweremadu said, Monday, that the
on-going trial over alleged forgery of 2015 Senate
Standing Order was not about him and Senate
President Bukola Saraki, but that Democracy,
separation of powers, rule of law, the legislature
were on a ridiculous trial.
He warned that the government should have a
rethink in its move to destroy democracy and
justice as that would ultimately will lead Nigeria
down the road to perdition.
According to Ekweremadu, it was worrisome that
those in government who should know better,
were presently using the paraphernalia of office to
pursue private vendetta against people they
disagree with.
He said that democracy does not allow for
vindictiveness, arrogance, and mindless targeting
of innocent citizens.
In a statement he personally signed Monday and
made available to Journalists, Senator
Ekweremadu warned those in government to
know that Democracy was sharply different from
military rule.
Deputy President of the Senate said that at the
end of the day, he and others would be vindicated
and the wicked will not go unpunished.
The statement read in full: “I presented myself to
the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court
today as an ordinary citizen of this great nation
to plead NOT GUILTY to charges I did not and
could not have committed.
“It is deeply troubling to note that people in high
places who swore to uphold the law have
dwindled into purveyors of falsehood and rumours
who seek to smear and tarnish the reputation of
law abiding and responsible citizens, as well as
cripple the hallowed institutions of democracy. It
is all the more disheartening that people who
should know better use the colour of their office
to pursue private vendetta against people they
disagree with.
“This grotesque display of vindictiveness,
arrogance, and mindless targeting of innocent
citizens should find no sanctuary in our
democracy.
“Using the machinery of justice to create disorder
is a dangerous and invidious scheme that
ultimately will lead Nigeria down the road to
perdition. It is Senator Bukola Saraki and Senator
Ike Ekweremadu today, who knows whose turn it
will be next?
“I am a law-abiding citizen and believe in the rule
of law and all the rights and privileges it
advertises. But, even at that, it is only in my
place not to commit crime, but way out of my
reach not to be accused of one, especially when
instruments of power become apparatuses for
oppression of the innocent and voices of
opposition.
“Indeed, I, in no way or fashion, claim to be
above the law, just that I believe that the law
should not be used as an instrument to bludgeon
innocent citizens into submitting to the untamed
wishes and caprices of witch-hunters.
“However, I put my trust in God, the court, and
the overwhelming solidarity of the good people of
Nigeria. When the dust settles, Nigerians will see
clearly that this charge is nothing but
meretricious thrash.
“Time, occasions, and provocations like this will
teach their own lessons. I hope that one chief
lesson will be that democracy differs markedly
from military rule and that public officer should
never subvert the foundations of democracy by
prioritizing the rule of man over the rule of law.
“Let us make no mistake about this: it is not
Senator Ike Ekweremadu or Senator Bukola
Saraki or the other accused persons that are on
trial; rather the hallowed democratic principles of
separation of powers, rule of law, the legislature
itself, and indeed democracy are on a ridiculous
trial.
“Mere anarchy is unleashed upon the land, but
our courage must not fall apart. No condition is
permanent and nothing lasts forever.
“For me, I find great comfort in the immortal
words of late Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe who said that
history will vindicate the just and the wicked will
not go unpunished.”

He/she heads the marketing department and is
responsible for selling airtime; for programs which
are aired on the station. This department, under
the Marketing Manager also ‘rents’ out physical
space within the station’s premises for those who
wish to host events there. It is also the
responsibility of the marketing department to go
out and source for sponsorships and
advertisement from companies who wish to
advertise their products and independent
producers who wish to air their programmes on
the channel.
THE SYNERGY AMONG DEPARTMENTS
The departments work hand in hand as there is
cordial relationship among the staff in the station.
Without this, there won’t be an enabling
environment to achieve the set goals and
objectives of the station.
HOW THEY WORK TOGETHER
The administrative department ensures that every
staff is carried along in matters of the
organization. They visit every department to make
sure there is good working condition in place. The
admin department works hand in hand with the
finance department to purchase equipment for the
station and ensure timely maintenance. The
admin writes purchasing orders also referred to
as claim. This has to be endorsed by the admin
manager who in turn passes it to the general
manager for approval. The approved purchasing
order is then taken to finance department for
funds be made available.
This cycle depicts the fact that every department,
with admin department as a meeting point, get to
work and interact together frequently.
The admin also works with the engineering
department to purchase diesel for the generating
plants which is used to power the station in event
of power outage.
Succinctly put, no department is an island (exists
on its own). All units work together for the
continued functionality of the station; NTA
Channel 10 Lagos.
INCENTIVES/WELFARE PACKAGES
The station motivates its staff by providing free
transportation for them. The station also ensures
that claims are given to workers who perform
overtime duties. Also, by virtue of the nature of
some staff roles, they are required to work
overnight; such are given free dinner and
comfortable resting place.
The Minister of Education, Malam Adamu Adamu has directed all
tertiary institutions to stop Post Unified Tertiary Matriculation
examination or test, saying that the ban is with immediate effect.
The minister who made this position known on Monday in a press
statement issued by Deputy Director Press and Public Relations, Ben
Bem Goong said, “the ban is with immediate effect, and under no
circumstance should any institution violate the directive.”
He noted that the emphasis has become necessary in order to ensure that
no stakeholder is left in doubt as to government’s position on the matter.
The minister stressed that once the Joint Admission and Matriculation
Board (JAMB) has certified a candidate worthy of admission into any of
the tertiary institutions, that candidate must be deemed fit by the
institution.
He said, “For the avoidance of doubt, any educational institution after
secondary education is regarded as a tertiary institution. Therefore all
tertiary institutions, polytechnics, Colleges of Education, universities or
by whatever name it is called after secondary education must be
subjected to admission through the JAMB.
On screening, he said: “Clearing in this case (screening) entails only the
verification of certificates of the candidates, JAMB scores, and any other
physical examination to ensure that such candidates are not cultists.
After this, the candidates are qualified for matriculation.
“Such screening should be at no cost to the parents or students and
should be done upon resumption in order to avoid unnecessary travels in
search of admission,” he added.
He added that mere admission into the university does not guarantee any
student the award of a degree until such a student successfully goes
through a minimum of eight examinations (for 4-year courses) or ten and
twelve examinations (for 5 and 6 year courses), among other
requirements.
The candidates can be screened by verifying their certificates but not
through the conduct of examinations.
The minister, therefore, directed the National Universities Commission
(NUC) and appropriate departments in the Ministry to communicate the
directive to relevant agencies and institutions to ensure strict
compliance.
Roy Hodgson's side crashed out in typical
fashion with a woeful display against one of
the tournament minnows Brexit jokes were in abundance as England
crashed out of Euro 2016 at the hands of
Iceland on Monday evening.
Despite taking an early lead against one of
the tournament’s minnows, Roy Hodgson’s
men were dumped out of the competition
thanks to a combination of Joe Hart’s error,
some rugged Icelandic defending and a severe
lack of attacking verve from the Three Lions.
The Twitter universe was quick to have their
say on the result, including a superb post
from supermarket chain Iceland...
President of the Senate, Dr. Abubakar Bukola
Saraki, claims there is “now a government within
the government of President Buhari”, which has
allegedly seized the apparatus of Executive
powers to pursue a nefarious agenda.
This claim by Senator Saraki would have been
more worth the while, if it had been backed with
more information. If he had proceeded to identify
those who constitute the “government within the
government,” it would have taken the issue
beyond the realm of fiction and mere conjecture.
But as it stands, the allegation is not even worth
the paper on which it was written, as anybody
can wake from a troubled sleep, and say
anything.
The Attorney-General of the Federation is the
Chief Law Officer of the state. It is within his
constitutional powers to determine who has
infringed upon the law, and who has not.
Pretending to carry an imaginary cross is mere
obfuscation, if, indeed, a criminal act has been
committed. But we leave the courts to judge.
To claim that President Buhari is anybody’s
stooge is not only ridiculous, but also
preposterous. It is not in the character of our
President.

For those of you madly in love with worldly music.
Read this article and please
for your own good, have a change of heart and repent.

Satanism has taken over the Music Industry and Hollywood . Please if you're a true Christian,
Don't watch this Movie called "CORPUS
CHRISTI" and Don't listen to Kanye
West's song called ''I AM A God'' I know you love watching Movies and listening to Music
but for Christ sake, don't get tempted. The
movie Corpus Christi is due to be released
between this June to August. This disgusting
film is set to appear in America later this year
and it depicts Jesus and his disciples as
homosexuals! As a play, this has already been in
theatres for a while. It's called Corpus Christi '
which means 'The Christ Body.' It's a revolting
mockery of our Lord. But, we can make a
difference. That's why I am sending this
message to you. If you do send this around, we
may be able to prevent this film from showing in
AFRICA. Apparently, some regions in Europe have
already banned the film.
We need a lot of prayers and a
lot of mails . As a
Christian, I want to take a stand in what I believe
in and stop the mockery of Jesus Christ our Saviour. At the risk of a bit of inconvenience, I'm forwarding this to all I think would appreciate it.
Please help us prevent such offences against
our Lord. It will take you less than 2minutes to pass it on. If you are not interested, or do not have the 2 minutes it will take to do this, please don't complain when God does not have time for you, because He is far busier than we are.
Remember, Jesus said 'Deny Me on earth and I'll deny you before my Father. Pass it on to show that you love JESUS........ pass it to at least 12
people....... and have a blessing at the end of the day....... God bless u.... Dont complain Just foward it to everyone....lets reach out to the world. SAY NO TO (SAME SEX RELATIONSHIP)
