My future not tied to FA Cup, says Wenger

Arsene Wenger has insisted the FA Cup will play no part in deciding his future as Arsenal manager.
Wenger has won the trophy a record equalling six times and Wembley could be his salvation again as they face Manchester City in Sunday’s semi final. But despite being under pressure with his contract due to expire in the summer, Wenger made it clear winning the FA Cup will not
decidewhether he stays at the Emirates.Wenger, 67, who is expected to sign a new two year contract, said: “It doesn’t play any part in that. The FA Cup is a very important game for me because it’s the next game and because it’s an opportunity, as I just told you, to win a trophy this season.“So of course we are all fully focused on that. My future is Sunday. My commitment is total and I am only focused on Arsenal.”Wenger said using a back three again at Wembley is “an option” for Arsenal again, having won at Middlesbrough on Monday using that system. But they will be without Shkodran Mustafi again because of his thigh injury while Danny Welbeck is a doubt. David Ospina, Jeff Reine-Adelaide and Lucas Perez are all still out.Wenger did stress the need to win the FA Cup this season and admitted that it has a special place in his heart.“My memories are of the old Wembley, I played in 1998 againstNewcastle in the final,” said Wenger. “For me when I was a kidI watched the games at Wembley on television, so that was the first time for me to reach Wembley and to play in the final was special for me.
