Zidane leaves Real Madrid for Alaves

Enzo Zidane, the son of Real Madrid manager Zinedine, has left the Santiago Bernabeu to link up with Alaves on a three-year deal.

He was handed a first-team debut in a Copa del Rey clash with Cultural Leonesa in November 2016, but netting in that contest proved to be as good as things got.

Zidane was included in Madrid's squad for various La Liga and Champions League games, including the final against Juventus, but rarely made the matchday ranks.

The club posted within a statement on their official website: "Deportivo Alaves wants to welcome Enzo Zidane and wishes him the best of luck for the new season.

Reports in Spain suggest that Real have included a buy-back clause in the deal which takes Zidane away from the Bernabeu.

Human Trafficking: PRAWA empowers victimized communities

Michael Babatunde

As a follow up to its plans in curbing human trafficking, a non-governmental organisation, Prisoners Rehabilitation and Welfare Action (PRAWA) is set to give out loans to communities with prevalent human trafficking in Ogun state.

Following the revelation by National Agency for Prohibition of Traffic in persons and other related matters, NAPTIP that human trafficking is prevalent in Ogun, Kano, Kaduna, Anambra and Edo states, PRAWA has been sensitizing and empowering for communities in these states for the past two years.

Having sensitized and empowered the people through skill acquisition, PRAWA is set to offer a financial assistance platform on which the people can take off their businesses in Igan-Okoto area of Yewa-North Local government, Ogun State.

The team leader social development rehabilitation of PRAWA, Ifunaya Igbokwe, who identified poverty as the reason child trafficking is on the rise added that the seed capital will ensure financial stability and comfort of the people.

In his words, “this programme, anti-human trafficking project being sponsored by Netherlands embassy in Nigeria started three years ago. This is the 6th phase and it is running in five states consecutively, that is in Ogun, Edo, Kano, Kaduna and Anambra states which according to NAPTIP are having endemic human trafficking.

“What we will be giving them is not a loan, it is a seed capital but we want it to be like a revolving credit scheme. We realized that if we give them the money and back out, they might spend the money anyhow. So, we want a situation where that credit can be revolved and more participants and indigenes can all benefit from the scheme. It is not a loan but a seed capital and a revolving credit scheme.

“There is no exact amount we are giving out but having empowered them through skill acquisition programmes, we will buy the equipment needed for them through this scheme. Like someone into hair dressing, we finance the business and from whatever the person makes, she will be paying back little by little into a micro finance account that will be opened in the name of the community so as to help other people out.

“Most of these parents, due to poverty and lack of funds will have to send their children out to help alleviate poverty but you find out that it has not solved the problem. So, instead of sending the child out, why don’t we empower the parent and the children? If we empower the parents and the parents are able to provide basic needs, it will help curtail the issue of child labour as recorded by NAPTIP in this state.”

Ifunaya who said the sensitization had earlier been done in Ilara, Iwoye-Ketu of Imeko-Afon, Igan and Igan Okoto areas of Yewa-North added that the choice of Igan-Okoto was because of the eager response received from the residents.

He added that PRAWA is collaborating with Stephanie Peace Building Development Foundation, SPADEV, as a contact NGO in Ogun State, and National Agency for Prohibition of Traffic in persons and other related matters, NAPTIP as a government agency to curb human trafficking in the states and the country at large.

Kidnapper Evans: "Why I Didn't Operate In Yoruba States Apart From Lagos"

Suspected billionaire kidnapper, Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike aka Evans, yesterday told New Telegraph reasons why he did not operate in South-West states apart from Lagos. This was even the police yesterday said the suspect would soon be charged to court on charges of alleged murder, kidnapping and armed robbery.
Evans said he preferred to operate in Enugu, Abia, Lagos and Edo states. But, according to him, since he is fromAnambra State, he decided not to carry out robbery or kidnapping operations in the state.

He said: “Police tracking located me inAnambra State, but it was not because I committed robbery or even kidnapped anyone there.
If I kidnapped someone in Lagos, I sometimes go to Anambra State to collect the ransom, just to avoid detention.”
Challenged that he once carried out simultaneous robbery operations in Oyo State in 2010, where three banks were raided, Evans shrugged.

“No! I have never operated in any Yoruba state, let alone Oyo State. I have never operated there; Lagos is my state. I mostly operated from Lagos.
Moreover, I also didn’t like operating inYoruba states because I don’t know my way around there. I don’t know the terrains.
It is not right to go where you don’t know, except you have someone that can lead you,” he said.

Evans also seized the opportunity of speaking with New Telegraph to dispel outrageous ‘lies’ being peddled in social media and online sites.

He said: “There was never a time I saidI got victims from Facebook or that my wife used to collect ransom on my behalf. I did not also say there are important personalities working with me in the East.”

Yesterday, the Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO), Mr. Jimoh Moshood, said investigations into the alleged crimes against Evans and his gang members had reached advanced stages.

He added that the judicial process for his conviction or otherwise, will “soon begin before a court of competent jurisdiction”.

Moshood said: “Evans is going to be taken to court very soon, on completion of investigation.”

When asked where the billionaire suspect would be tried, in view of the fact that he had committed the alleged offences in different states.Moshood responded: “He will be tried before a court of competent jurisdiction.”

Banks reject Etisalat’s $58.9mpayment plan

Twelve commercial banks have rejected a $58.9 million offer by Etisalat Nigeria as fulland final payment for the$588.6 million the telecom giant owes,The Nation learnt yesterday. The loan comprises N114 billion ($361.6 million) in localcurrency and $227 million in foreign currency, putting the total obligation to the banks at$588.6 million. The source said Etisalat Nigeria also has some unsettled obligations to its other business partners.
A senior manager in one of the banks told The Nation thatthe lender rejected the offer because it was not a fair deal, which will hurt the interest of shareholders, deplete their capital base and derail the stability in the banking sector. The source said Etisalat Nigeria came up with the repayment plan after an emergency meeting held between the lenders and the telecom giant last month in London.
After the meeting, Etisalat Nigeria came up with the loan liquidation plan, which the banks rejected.
The banks had decided to cut the interest charged on the loan by six per cent below market rate, agreed to absorb 20 to 30 per cent of the debt burden and allow the firm to pay-down the loan within eightyears. The source, who pleaded not to be named because he is not permitted to talk on the matter, explained that the banks remained entrepreneurs and custodiansof depositors’ funds, which they must protect. The source said: “It is a challenging time for the banks. A lot of Nigerians depend on us as depositors. We have shareholders who have invested in the banks and want dividends. Etisalat has the capacity to repay the loans. Etisalat flew their private jet to Nigeria from United Arab Emirates and obtained its operating licence without borrowing from any bank. They are heavy guys, and can pay their debt.”
“The firm has a strong parent company who is one of the best investors in the world.
”The source said that these credentials convinced the lenders to lend to Etisalat Nigeria. “Even though we cannot see all the benefits, but the telecom sector contributes about eight per cent to the national Gross Domestic Product, and the banks saw the need to support the company.
“The country cannot have the Smart City being canvassed without the telecom sector. We gave out the loans to support the economy,” the source said.
According to the source, the loan to the company was restructured, with the borrower given additional timeto ensure it liquidates the loan, but while the final document for the loan restructuring was being reviewed by the Legal Council, the company asked for a ‘Stand Still’.
The source said the banks were not questioning the capacity of Etisalat Nigeria to liquidate the loan, but what is lacking is the company’s willingness to pay back the loan. The source said the banks had not taken over the company, because they do not own shares in the company, the directors are not changed and the lenders do not have expertise in running telcos.

Etisalat Nigeria yesterday denied reports that it was being investigated by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), following a petition to “the Federal Government asking that Etisalat be investigated” on how the funds from the syndicated loans were utilized. In a statement, its Vice President, Regulatory & Corporate Affairs, Ibrahim Dikko, said: “Etisalat wishes tocategorically affirm for the avoidance of doubt that the reports are patently false and most unfortunate, consideringthe damage such misleading information can have not only on our business, but indeed on the telecommunications industry and the country as a whole.
“Concerned parties have access to our books and do not require an investigation into how the loan sum was utilised. All of the infrastructure investment and services for which the loan was secured, were paid through our banks and these are verifiable,” he said.

Juliana Olayode Aka "Toyo Baby" Finally Opens Up On Beef With Funke Akindele

The removal of Juliana Olayode popularly know as Toyo Baby from Funke Akindele's Jenifa series, raised somany eyebrows and different people suggested different things all geared towards the duo having a misunderstanding!
The both parties have remained coy on this matter until today, Juliana decided to break the ice in what she captioned
"The Relationship Between Jenifa And Toyo Baby Uncensored"

Read the post below:

Thank you for choosing to read this post. It hurts when people spread lies about you and you cannot do anything to defend yourself. But thank God for a platform like this. I would be saying a lotof things; it would be a long read but I promise you would enjoy reading.
I would be stating in clear terms the relationship I had with Aunty Funke. I used ‘had’ and would be talking in past tense because like you know, I am presently not on the Jenifa’s Diary series. And guess what? The news just broke lately, but I have been off the series since May,2016 (last year); it’s been over a year already.
My post would be in two parts; who Aunty Funke was to me (Juliana), and then, who I was to her. These are things only few people know but I am ready to let the world know.
Yes! I will start with her. Why? She’s an amazing person and I can’t wait for you to know how lovely she is on a one-on-one basis. We all have our flaws but we choose rather to celebrate our strengths. Here goes!

Aunty Funke to Juliana!

COACH
Aunty Funke met me for the first time at the auditions of Jenifa’s Diary (she did not know me prior to that day). She saw my talent and believed in me. I worked with her for years; she trained me and helped me in becoming a better actress. She would not take anything short of excellence from her cast. I honestly have not seen anyone in Nollywood more hard working than Aunty Funke. And she made it a duty to correct me and coach me on being better.

BENEFACTOR
Aunty Funke helped pay my mum’s hospital bill for a fibroid surgery, two hundred and fifty thousand naira (N250,000), because I had no money at that time. She also gave to the ministry dear to my heart, MINE Teenage Ministrywhen we were preparing for an event, one hundred thousand naira (N100,000) and my pastor called to appreciate her. So apart from my pay as an actress on the series (which I won’t mention), that’sall I received from her money-wise, asides from change she gave me for transport when leaving set because as at then, I used to jump bus, ‘keke’ and bike to and fro set up until I left the series…lol. But in all, God used her to meet that major need in my life at that time.

BIG SISTER AND ADVISER
I fondly remember the times Aunty Funke would call me to her room while I was staying in her house (during set), and talk to me. She would take her time to advise me and encourage me as regards life in general. One particular day I treasure was the day she came to the room I stayed and told me, in a mother’s tone that I was beautiful and she warned me sternly never to bleach. Ismile whenever I remember that. God bless her kind heart!

CHEERLEADER AND ENCOURAGER
Aunty Funke never ceased to celebrate me. Knowing how excellent she is at what she does (acting), I was shocked, elated and excited all at once the day she told me I was a good actress. She told me I would be great and celebrated. She saw years ago what is happening today. I am thankful for her words.Juliana to Aunty Funke!

UNOFFICIAL P.A
I was privileged to be the one holding Aunty Funke’s bag while on set. I ‘kept’ the money we spent on day-to-day running and was required to balance account afterwards. I don’t like Mathematics, so that was a lot of work…lol. Money was never unaccounted for in my keep. I ran errands for Aunty Funke and made sure all that was needed was supplied.

UNOFFICIAL ASSISTANT MAKE-UP ARTIST
On set, on some occasions, when I was not acting, I was fanning and dabbing the faces of other actresses (including extras). So, this is for those that have accused me of being proud. Please ask those I fanned and dabbed while preparing to go on set later. On some occasions, I also did my own makeup and that of some other cast. All I wanted to do was SERVE; I wanted every set to be a success.

UNOFFICIAL ASSISTANT CATERER
On set, there were different occasions I served cast and crew (plus extras) food and water. At some points, I joined in washing plates when the plates were not enough to go round. And times I was not acting, and I saw the ‘Mamas’ needed help, I joined them in washing plates. They are alive to bear witness.

UNOFFICIAL ASSISTANT COSTUMIER
I hardly forget things I memorised, so I knew the continuity of major characters on the set. Aunty Funke used to ask Costumiers to confirm costumes with me. On some occasions.I had to go to set earlier than others and leave later than others to sort out costumes, including wigs and other accessories. I looked forward to doing it and never once complained

UNOFFICIAL ASSISTANT DRIVE
I could not drive while on Jenifa’s Diary set, and I still cannot…lol but I woke up early on different occasions to wash Aunty Funke’s car. The times I didn’t wash, I dusted the car. She is a neat person, so I made sure the inside of the car and the boot were tidy and clean. For me, it was pleasure serving Aunty Funke.

UNOFFICIAL CLEANER
I lived with Aunty Funke while set was on, so I counted it my duty to clean the house. She lived in a duplex at Chevron at that time, so I cleaned the entire house. Sweeping and moping from room to room. Scrubbing bathroom afterbathroom. I arranged wardrobe after wardrobe, laid one bed after another. You would not know any of these if I am not saying this. I did all this with joy. She was special to me and you serve those you love.

UNOFFICIAL WASHER WOMAN
Aunty Funke is neat and very tidy and she does professional drycleaning. But there were times she needed a dress washed urgently and I helped her wash. Please don’t accuse me of being proud or rude to Aunty Funke again. I SERVED her WHOLEHEARTEDLY.

UNOFFICIAL COOK
Some of my fond memories with Aunty Funke are the times I cooked for Aunty Funke. I enjoyed cooking for her. I followed someone who lived with her then (name withheld) to market on different occasions to buy things we used to cook. Please note, I had a home of my own. I stayed with Aunty Funke only when we were shooting except times she specifically asked me to come over.

UNOFFICIAL MASSUER
I learnt how to massage with Aunty Funke; I learnt on the job…lol. I knew shewas usually tired when we got back so itwas my pleasure to relieve her; she sometimes slept off while I massaged her. There was a day we were on location and we did not take the oil. Someone offered oil but as I held it, my spirit was not at peace. So, I bowed my head and prayed over the oil. I did not know Aunty Funke was watching me. When I opened my eyes, she asked whatI did and I told her. Her response was “O se oko mi”, translated, “thank you my dear”.

PRAYER PARTNER
There were different times Aunty Funke called me to pray on location, and sometimes at home. There was a time I gave her a Word of Knowledge. I had a dream once, I told her, and it happened the next day. I fasted and prayed with Aunty Funke and her sister. She called me to pray with her at midnight at some points. She knew from the onset that I was a Christian and that I was committed to prayer. There were different times we both prayed and asked God to give us sponsors. So, for those that have accused me of being “holier-than-thou”, that is the real me o! Everybody on every set I have gone, including Jenifa’s Diary, know I am unapologetically sold out to Jesus. I am not ‘deceiving’ anybody. That is my ‘real face’…lol

SCRIPT ADVISER
I had the pleasure of sitting and gisting with Aunty Funke at different points, whether at home or in the car. We wouldtalk about the script. She sometimes had inspirations in the car and she would ask me to write it down so she doesn’t forget, and she would ask my opinion. I treasure those moments. Interestingly, there was a day we were talking at the house and her husband was there. I talked about loving High School movies and Musicals. I said I wondered why we didn’t have such in Nigeria. Then, we all started talking. JJC Skills even ‘drafted’ me into it already but we were just talking lightly. It is my joy that “INDUSTREET” is a reality today!Let me stop here! So, with these few points of mine, I hope I have been able to convince you and not confuse you that you shouldn’t believe everything you read until you hear from the source.Your question now is, what happened? Hmmm! We had a misunderstanding and I cannot disclose what happened without Aunty Funke’s permission. But ifyou read all I said in the post, you would gather that we were quite close. And when two people get that close, misunderstandings are bound to occur.

All I have said, you can confirm. 100% truth and UNCENSORED!!!So, it is God, who saw my faithfulness and commitment, Who is rewarding me and announcing me to the world.

Dear aspiring celeb, please SERVE and not seek to be served.

Much love!

Juliana Olayode.

Annoying Things People Do In LAGOS Traffic/public Bus

The best place to catch the lifetime moment is sometimes in the bus. This does not apply to you when you are not in a good mood, because there are some annoying things when you board a bus. There are some extremely annoying things people do that makes you regret even starting the journey.

1. You meet the preachers; imagine when there is intense traffic and everyone is praying for the traffic to reduce, then you see one sis/bro preaching the gospel. P.S nobody is saying this is wrong, but it could be annoying. The bro/sis start singing and after that they tell you why trousers is bad, they even use you to preach if you are unlucky. After that, they ask for whatyou can use to support the gospel and cajole you to drop anything.

2. You see the hawkers; all these ones are good at what they do. They always pray for traffic, so they can sell their goods. Aside the hawkers on the road that sells the basic things you need. There are some that are in the bus, they sell everything in this world ranging from agbo jedi, body soap, drugs, story books, love book, lyrics, multivitamin, insecticides and so on. These people have sweet mouth ehn.

3. The commentators; All these people make traffic condition over tiring. You see them commenting on everything they see. They talk about how poor the economy is, they argue about anything from politics, religious, tribe et.c. They engage people in the bus with all manners of unnecessary talks. I don't ever want to stay close to them.

4. The bad odor category; hmmm the listwouldn't be complete without these people. They have awful way they smell that you just want to throw up. Sometimes, they are either passengers or even the bus conductor. Mostly fat people do this when they start sweating.
Pray you don't sit next to them through the journey.

5. The food mongers; all these ones buy and eat anything possible they see in traffic. first they are having puff-puff, next thing is rice, pop corn, biscuit, lacasera and gala. They don't ever tired of putting something in the mouth. Bad thing is if you are next to them and you are hungry.

6. The Proud ones; all these ones are something else, they fight for front space in the bus, they sit so comfortably, even when you tell them to adjust a bit, they find it difficult. They complain about how small the bus is, and even brag about how they would have gone with their car or cab.

.7. The parole guys; you must have comeacross this guys. They want to set P at all cost. They don't mind dropping at your b/stop just to exchange contact. They even offer to pay for your t fare. They always want to engage in conversation with you by all means. Sometimes they always have poor English or mouth odor, too bad.

8. The Sleepers ; all these ones can sleep for Africa. they can sleep any where so far they are OK. They sleep, open their mouth and some even snore. They sleep through the journey even when the bus is noisy. Unfortunately, some of them over sleep and miss their B/stops.
Which category/ies do you fall in?

Nkem Owoh Osuofia Speaks On Biafra

The Nollywood star actor had his own say about Biafra on YouTube

"if Nigeria wants to reorganize itself and live in justice and equity, why not give it a try, but if our people have checked everything, right from the end of the war,to the 3 Rs which I did not see any till this now, and then we say staying on our own is best for the long term, we all have to come together and support it".
"Nnamdi Kanu and his group has been peaceful so far, but it pains me so much when I read and watch videos of how police and soldiers attack our young ones, it broke my heart".
"To all our people in high political places, whether APC or PDP or any party you are in, you see the yearnings and agitations of our people and you shout

"No No No", because you want to better your own lot, your family and grand children, be wise, there is nowhere food is cooked and kept ready for you, if you want to use your people and do politics, let me say this to you, what is coming, you will feel like you are immune to it, but you will be the first one to be cut outand reduced to nothing".

Sex Workers Take Over Lagos Council Secretariat For Short Time Sex

It appears that the economic situation in the country has really affected the women of easy virtues as most can no longed afford to pay for their rooms in brothels and are now forced to do their runs outside.
Many of them have now found solace at the Ejigbo Local Council Development secretariat along Ikotun/Isolo road in Ejigbo.
P.M.EXPRESS undercover findings revealed that the booming business cut across all sizes and kind of women comprising married, single, students who are competing with professional sex workers and others.
It was also gathered that the business is conducted in collaboration with Council workers who give them access to the secretariat; to use every corners for short time sex and thereafter collect token fees.
This was yet to be confirmed or denied by the Council management.
The sex workers, P.M.EXPRESS gathered, do offer different kinds of services; the popular one is the one they bend down and the patrons penetrate from back.
However, it was learnt that such patrons must watch their pockets otherwise they will lose money and any other valuable in their pockets during the act.
Apart from the secretariat, tankers drivers who usually parked their trucks at the NNPC depot also convert their trucks to serve as makeshift accommodation for the business.
One of the patrons simply known as Ben, told P.M.EXPRESS that the business has been going on there for some years before it started booming recently.
He said it first started from the NNPC junction before it eventually spread to the local government secretariat and it appeared both the sex workers and their patrons were happy over the standard of the services rendered.
P.M.EXPRESS asked to know who patronises the ladies and Ben explained that the tanker drivers and their assistants constitute big market for sex workers because hundreds of tankers come to the NNPC depot daily and in most cases they stay till the following day.
He also explained that there were hotels within the axis but the cost of paying for chalets is on the high side and so many patrons resort to road side sex at reduced fee.
He said one can easily get their services by paying between N300 and N500 unless such patrons want ‘take-away’.
“The unique thing about this place is that you can see a fine and big womanyou may not have the courage to talk to elsewhere, but you can have her here with N500,” Ben explained.
When our correspondent attempted tospeak to some of the workers, they declined and said that was not what they came there to do.
However, one of the workers, Jane said the area is booming because of cost implication
.She said she was paying N30, 000 every month to a hotel owner where she rented half of a room space but could not cope with the rent due to low patronage.
She explained, “I make more money here because I spend less on space and there are reasonable customers.”
Efforts to speak with the council management was not successful as the PRO was said not to be in the office to respond.

"We Have Resolved Nigeria Must Not Break"

State governors, on Wednesday, said they had resolved that they would not allow Nigeria to break up, stating that those fanning the embers of war were wasting their time.

The governors spoke after their meeting with Acting President Yemi Osinbajo at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, in continuation of Osinbajo’s consultations on the recent tension in the country as a result of several agitations.
Oyo State Governor, Abiola, Ajimobi, who spoke on behalf of the other governors, said the governors and other stakeholders had agreed that despite the agitations being witnessed in parts of the country, Nigeria must not break.
Speaking with State House correspondents at the end of a meeting, Osinbajo stated that any Nigerians expecting the country to break was only wasting his time.“The message is for Nigerians to work more together and collaborate. We have more to gain when we are united.
“We cannot afford to break, and any body that is thinking of that, is wasting his time, and we will not allow it, not in this country. All of us are unanimous about that,” he added.
He said the governors resolved that the unity of the country “is sacrosanct, non-negotiable and we have all agreed to work together to educate people.”Ajimobi added, “Any time you have agitation, usually, there will be poverty; there will be unemployment; there will be hardship. So, we should address fundamentally these areas of poverty, unemployment and hardship.
“Nigerians are by nature a united people;nobody cares whether you are from the north, south or the east.”
The governor also warned against the consequences of war, urging Nigerians to learn from Rwanda and Somalia.
Osinbajo had appealed to the governors to always be ready to speak up against statements from individuals or groups capable of setting the nation on fire.
He said they must be ready to protect the nation and its democracy from the hands of those who were bent on dividing the country.
He spoke before the meeting, which washeld inside the old Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, Abuja, went into a closed-door session. He stated, “We must not allow the careless use of words, careless expressions that may degenerate into crisis.
“We are a people that like to talk and we express ourselves loudly but it is expected for us to recognise that it is those same words that can cause conflagration; that can unfortunately lead to calamity. We must be careful on how we express ourselves.
“What we have seen in recent times is that some of the languages (words) used have tended to degenerate badly and I think that we must begin to speak up against some of these things and ensure that we protect our democracy and our nation from the hands of rhetoric that may just divide us.Osinbajo, who had earlier met separatelywith leaders of thought and traditional rulers from both the North and the South-East, said those who participated in the previous consultations agreed that Nigeria’s unity should not be taken for granted.
He said nobody wanted the nation to witness bloodshed or war. While describing the previous meetings as frank and open, Osinbajo said they were able to agree on most of the critical issues that were discussed, and in most cases, changed perceptions that might have been long embedded in their minds.
He added that the participants also agreed that under no circumstances should hateful speeches be condoned and that government should take all steps necessary to bring to book all those who preached violence. The acting President stated that they also agreed that government needed to do more to engage youths productively, create some jobs and multiply the economic opportunities available.Osinbajo added, “More importantly, we agreed on the need for leaders to speak out forcefully to counter divisive speech or any kind of warmongering.
“We agreed that leaders, at all levels, must speak out forcefully against any kind of divisiveness or divisive speech. And we expect that our political leaders will do so without waiting to be prompted.
“All of those who spoke felt that sometimes when leaders do not speak up promptly, it always results in degeneration, no matter what the problem may be.“
This applied to both the statements made by the young people in the South-East as well as the youth in the northernstates. We discovered there was a need for much greater resonance in the way that these things are done and for the leaders to speak up more forcefully.
“We believe that if the leaders do not speak up forcefully enough, if for any reason, matters are allowed to degenerate, not only does leadership lose their legitimacy, they run the risk of things going completely out of control.”
He commended the leaders from the North and South-East for their opennessat the consultations, saying they were extremely responsible even in their criticisms of what they felt were issues that should have been better handled. While saying their criticisms were fair and balanced, he commended them for their sense of responsibility and their leadership.
Osinbajo mentioned the issue of herdsmen and farmers crisis, especially the way that some of these had resultedin flashpoints across the country, as one of the issues raised at the previous meetings.
He said it was important that lasting andsatisfactory solutions were found to the problems identified.Describing the problems as multidimensional, Osinbajo said state governors had important roles to play especially because they were in control of their territories.
He stated, “We must resist the temptation to play politics especially with matters of security, but to reach for simplistic narratives that might be originally expedient and satisfying but false, deceiving and sometimes unhealthy to proper understanding of the issues.”Governors, who attended the meeting, included Rauf Aregbesola (Osun); Abiola Ajimobi (Oyo); Dave Umahi (Ebonyi); Aminu Tambuwal (Sokoto); Abdullahi Ganduje (Kano); Nyesom Wike(Rivers) and Godwin Obaseki (Edo).
Among others are governors from Borno, Bayelsa, Akwa Ibom, Adamawa, Benue, Plateau, Kogi, Lagos, Kebbi, Ondo, Imo, Taraba and Anambra states among others.

5 Basic Skills Every Student Should Learn

Ever wondered what makes some students stand out among their peers? No, not because they are brilliant, but because they have mastered some skills that others haven’t. Having these skills, have make learning easier and in some cases, earn them some cash. Here are 5 basic skills you need to standout among your peers

1. Desktop publishing: Desktop publishing is one of the primary skills you need to acquire. As this will save you from stress, and the financial burden that comes with paying N200 to type a single page of document or the embarrassment of having to present a slide you didn’t design. The most important tools you need to master are Microsoft word, PowerPoint, and Microsoft excel or any variable of these. These tools will come in handy when you want to: submit a typed document, such as your project or assignments or do a visual presentation, whether in school or while working, in your career. The good news is; you don’t have to break the bank to learn these skills. In fact, the only thing you need is a computer (if you don’t have one, you can always use that of a friend) and a good internet connection to access free online resources (such as; online YouTube tutorials, free PDFs and slides)that are easily available. Another way to learn faster is to watch your friends while they use any of these tools, plus constant practice.

2. Graphic design: A good knowledge of graphic design will not only set your work apart, but also make you some cash. People, including lecturers and supervisors, love good graphics. The more visually appealing your work is, the better your chance of getting good grades.

3. Creative Writing: Not just writing, but creative writing. You must learn how to write good and self-explanatory content.
Although, attention is now shifting to digital testing, but we still have a whole lot of tests being taken in paper and pencil format. This means you need a good writing skill to convince your lecturer about your knowledge on a particular topic.Your writing style should be self-explanatory. As you will not be present when your script is marked, let your work defend you.
Learning how to write well will also help you in your career whether it is in findinga job, writing a business plan or proposal or writing good research article as a professional.

4. Good Presentation skill: Most people freak out at the thought of making a presentation. This is something you cannot avoid. Whether you are the boss or the employee, you will have to present at one point. You should start mastering your presentation skill from the beginning of your academic career. As you will need to present assignments, take tutorials or present a project at some point.

5. Public speaking skill: To go beyond average, you need to learn what others don’t feel comfortable doing. You need to learn how to face crowd and still say something relevant, this is public speaking.

This is to your success

Why Is Yawning Contagious?

No one knows for sure, but a study published in a recent issue of the journal Cognitive Brain Research theorizes that yawning in response to someone else’s yawn may be an empathetic response, similar to laughter. “A yawn can be triggered not only by seeing a person yawn but also by hearing, reading about, or even just thinking about yawns,” says Steven Platek, Ph.D., a professor of psychology at Drexel University, in Philadelphia, whodirected the research. Platek and his colleagues believe that contagious yawning may be a primitive way of modeling our feelings after other people’s.

Mourinho accused of tax fraud in Spain

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has been accused of tax fraud totalling €3.3 million (£2.9m) relating to his time at Real Madrid.
The Spanish prosecutor’s office announced on Tuesday that it has filed a complaint in a Madrid court against the Portuguese coach regarding tax irregularities. It will now be up to a judge to decide whether to take the matter to court.
In a statement released to ESPN FC, Madrid’s regional state prosecutor accused Mourinho of evading tax totalling €3.3m from his 2011 and 2012 declarations — €1.61m in 2011 and €1.69m in 2012 — while on the books of Real Madrid.

Mourinho, 54, who left Madrid in 2013, faces two counts of tax fraud.
The prosecutor’s office said Mourinho sold his image rights to Koper Services S. A, based in the Virgin Islands, before September 2004 and that he knowingly used a “business structure” involving several companies to hide his income from his image rights.
“All these companies’ structures were used by the accused with the object of making physically opaque his image rights earnings,” the state prosecutor’s report read.
Gestifute, the agency that represents Mourinho, said on Tuesday that neither Spain’s tax agency nor the prosecution have contacted him regarding the allegations.
“Jose Mourinho has not received any type of communications related to this. Up to this point, neither Hacienda [the tax office] nor the prosecutorset have contacted Jose Mourinho or the advisers who were under contract during the [tax] inspection process,” Gestifute said in a statement.

Duta Whatsapp Robot; The New Craze Of Whatsapp Groups

You are offline for some minutes on whatsapp and you came online to see a lot of messages in the group, mostly filled with "jumble" and "quizzes" and you wonder what has gone wrong with the members of the group or who is the organizer of the quiz.
.All these are the handiworks of a robot named duta that was recently created on whatsapp to give group members a great time playing games and getting updated infos.
So what is duta?

Duta™ is an indian group messenger specifically created to render different kinds of services like latest news, sports, entertainment, devotional, finance , quizzes and games especially jumble which is the most popular and most used services of all , it also renders a little horoscopical services.
A lot of arguments sometimes ensure ingroups about the true nature of duta, some members argue that it is an onlinerobot while some opined that it is a JavaScript programme, but I will chooseto call it a robot because it does the work of a robot e.g ranking you; giving you updated on time sports commentries , replies faster than a normal individual etc and you will agree with me , calling duta a robot is more interesting and dramatic than a web language.
So what are the advantages of duta in a group
1. No boring moments in the group; makes it more interesting
2. Get real sport commentaries live
3. Play interesting games and quizzes
4.free subscriptions
5.See more at sourceYou are amazed at its advantages; duta got a lot of disadvantages too
1. Eighty percent of the news is all about India
2. The jokes are in Indian
3. It crashes and stops replying when bombarded with too much messages, won't be able to process them all
4. its updates can be pretty annoying too
5. The jumble game is very addictive thereby leading to low quality conversation in a group and too many messages in a group which will be all about 'jumble', quizzes , updates etc
Mind you, it is not every of its services that are in Indian language or about India. These are some of the services it renders in English language
1. Sports commentaries ( *football)
2.weather reports (*weather)
3. Quizzes and games (*gk , jumble)
4 horoscopical services
5.currency converter

Oyo govt to install CCTV cameras in Ibadan

The Oyo State government will install close circuit television (CCTV) cameras in strategic locations across the state, Governor Abiola Ajimobisaid yesterday.

The move, the governor said, would place Oyo among the league of states and communities under the “safe city project”
.Ajimobi spoke in Ibadan, the state capital, when he hosted the United States (U.S) Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr. Stuart Symington.
Addressing the ambassador and his entourage, Ajimobi said the state, hitherto known for violence and brigandage, changed its course when his administration came in in 2011.
He pledged to sustain the peace.According to him, CCTV cameras will be installed at strategic locations known to be red spots or crisis-prone for close monitoring of the state.
Security operatives, Ajimobi said, would have direct link to the control base of the cameras.
The governor said his administration’s efforts at investing in the security and safety of the state was based on its understanding that they aid development.
On flooding, he said the intervention and assistance Oyo State got from the World Bank on 2011 flood helped the government in installing early flood warning signals which have helped prevent a recurrence. He said: “We came in 2011 and the state was regarded as an unsafe place. This made us come up with our hierarchy of development, drawing from man's hierarchy of needs.
“We identified that the job of agovernment is, firstly, securityand safety. The approach we adopted has yielded results and transformed Oyo to be known as one of the safest states in the country.“
Oyo has joined the comity of states in the Safe City Project where technology is deployed to combat crime and ensure safety and security.
“We shall install CCTV cameras in red spot and crisis-prone areas across the state to alert security operatives at the central control unit for prompt response. This measure will help our state more secure and peaceful.”
Symington said: “My visit to Oyo State is not just a courtesy call but a call for vision and wisdom. My goal isto look at Nigeria from every and a different point.“The reason for Nigeria’s greatness is because of its togetherness. It is a very greatnation. We will like to see how the people of this great nationand the people of America can work together to build a better future for the Pacesetter State.”

We all agree our nation should remain one – Osinbajo

Acting President gives an overall view, so far, of his ongoing consultations over ethnic agitations and exchanges between groups in the North and South-East at Iftar dinner he hosted earlier tonight at the Presidential Villa with Northern Traditional Rulers.

The way that we see things developing around our nationtoday (obviously as you said, even within families, you have disputes, you have controversies) is worrisome. All of us have however agreed that our nation must remain one. When we spoke yesterday with traditional rulers from the South-East; despite the issues that were raised here and there. I think that there is clarity as to that one thing, that our country ought to remain, must remain a united country.

FULL REMARKS BY THE ACTING PRESIDENT, FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA, HIS EXCELLENCY, PROF. YEMI OSINBAJO, SAN,GCON AT IFTAR WITH TRADITIONAL RULERS FROM THE NORTH AT THE OLD STATE HOUSE BANQUET HALL, ABUJA ON JUNE 19, 2017.PROTOCOL

Let me first say how honoured I am by the visit of all of your royal highnesses today for this Iftar. And just as you-(Sultan of Sokoto) said, it involved a bit of movement back and forth; the Sultan just arrived this morning from a trip abroad and he is still able to make it here.
So, I am really grateful for your consenting to come to join us at this Iftar but also to wait till tomorrow despite theplans that you may have made. Our nation requires the kind of maturity, the kind of leadership that you have displayed and I want to thankyou for that leadership and for that maturity.

It is heartwarming to know that we have leaders especially traditional leaders, who are prepared to make sacrifices, who are prepared to make concessions and compromises for the good ofour nation and I want to thank you for that great leadership.

In particular, I want to thank the Sultan for always being there, for always being ready to offer advice and in many times to offer an alternative view to what might appear to be the popular view and I am extremely grateful to you for all of that support.

Just as I said to them yesterday, a lot of blood has been shed on account of the unity of our country and our faithfulness even to the lives of those who have made the supreme sacrifice to this country, demands that we doeverything on our part to keep this country together.

And in any event, the greatest nations in the world are those nations who have the size as well as the humanresources in particular to make the best of that size, and I think our nation has that and the mere fact that we have such a large nation and so well-endowed, in terms of human resources.

I think that we are in the best position not only to be truly great but to ensure that all of our people benefit from the greatness of our country.

So, I want to thank you again for your kindness and for doing us this honour of attending this Iftar and for sharing the love of the season.

I pray that the almighty God will bless you and keep your kingdoms safe and also extend your own lives so thatyou will rule your kingdoms for long and you will rule your kingdoms in good health.

Thank you.

Tips For Driving Safely In The Rain

Singing in the rain is fun. But driving? For some people, it’s anxiety-producing. But being behind the wheel and a rain-splattered windshield doesn’t have to be a white-knuckled, nerve-racking experience.

Well, the rainy season is here again and bad weather conditions are among the top causes of accidents on our roads. Here are some tips to keep you safe on the road during this season:The vehicle wiper should be in a good shape. If the wiper is faulty, you will find it hard to clear the water splash off your wind-shield. This will result in poor visibility, which is likely to result in an accident .

1. Brakes should be in good condition. When it rains, the roads become very slippery and some of the water gets intothe brake disc. It is therefore advisable to get your brakes functioning well before you hit the road.

2. The brakes work hand-in-hand with the vehicle tires. If the tires of your vehicle are worn out, it is proper to replace them with new ones. This will facilitate good brakes on slippery roads.Clean the cover of your headlightswhen they are foggy. This will give you good light penetration in the evenings when it rains. After a long day, drivers are not likely to spot little details however, the fog light helps the driver with good visibility during bad weather. Drivers in this season must be mindful of their fog and headlights and replace them if they are old and not able to produce the expected light.

3. Vehicles should always have a good air conditioned system. When all the glasses of the vehicle are rolled up, the wind-shield becomes foggy after some time. You will need the air condition to clear the wind-shield.

4. Be on the lookout for sudden events that might occur. When driving through the rains, there are uncertain incidents that happen out of the blues, for example, a pedestrian slipping on the road, a vehicle ahead of you which is having a hard time stopping because of poor brakes, a tree or billboard falling onthe highway and the likes. It is also advisable to leave at least four seconds space from the vehicle ahead.

5. During rains, visibility level is poor. If you have problems with your eyes, it is better to let somebody who has good eyesight drive.

6. Do not rely on technology such as cruise control and forward collision warning system. These functions may not be efficient or available due to the rains. Having electronic stability control features such as the anti-skid control or lane-keeping assistant will also be a plus.

7. If your car is hydroplaning (That’s the technical term for what occurs when your tires are getting more traction on the layer of water on the road than on the road itself—the result is that your carbegins to slide uncontrollably) or has little contact with the ground, it is recommended that you slowly take your leg off the gas, remain calm and steer straight or slightly in the direction that you want to go.

8. Avoid driving through flooded roads. The water can enter your engine and cause it to breakdown. At worse, the water can get into the interior of the car or float it in the direction of the floods.

Sacked Worker Commits Suicide In Lagos

The corpse of a construction worker has been found dangling from a rope tied to a mango tree at Isoto, Ajasa Command, in the Alimosho area of Lagos State. The victim, identified as Water, was said to be among those working on the construction of the Command-AIT Road.
The corpse was said to have been found opposite the Alade Stadium end of the road.
The deceased was reportedly sacked recently, which residents claimed could be the reason for the suicide.
Majeksteve Blog learnt that the corpse was spotted around 2pm on Sunday by a resident, who raised the alarm.
People in the community were said to have raced to the spot where the body was found.

He put on a yellow polo shirt with the name, Lagos State Public Works Corporation, written at the back. The agency’s logo is also on the shirt. The action appeared deliberate. The man was among the workers employed by a private construction company to work on the Command-AIT Road. He was on daily pay, but was recently sacked. That may be the reason for the suicide.
”The resident told our correspondent that the victim couldn’t have been killed by anyone because of a buildingclose to the scene of the incident.“If he was taken there by some persons, he would have screamed andpeople would have come to his rescue. Also, there is no sign of injuries on him to suggest that he was beaten to death before being hanged,”he added.
Majeksteve Blog learnt that some tenants in a house close to the scene had been invited by the police to makestatements. The resident later said officials of the State Environmental Health Monitoring Unit had arrived at the scene to remove the corpse.
“Three workers with SEHMU have just removed the body.
They also took away his bag, which was at the foot of the tree,” he added. The state Police Public Relations Officer, Olarinde Famous-Cole, confirmed the incident, noting that thecorpse had been deposited in the Lagos Mainland Hospital mortuary for autopsy.

Health benefits of consuming cucumbers

Consuming fruits and vegetables of all kinds has long been associated with a reduced risk of many adverse health conditions.
Many studies have suggested that increasing consumption of plant foods like cucumber decreases the risk of obesity, diabetes, heart disease, and mortality while promoting a healthy complexion, increased energy, and overall lower weight.

1) Hydration

Made mostly of water and full of important electrolytes, cucumber is a perfect food to have on hand during the hot summer months to prevent dehydration. Adding cucumber to water is a great way to increase water consumption as well.

2) Skin

When used topically, cucumber has a cooling and soothing effect that decreases swelling, irritation, and inflammation. Cucumber slices can be placed on the eyes to decrease morning puffiness or placed on the skin to alleviate and treat sunburn.

Anger swells against Senate over planned fuel price hike

Anger swelled up across the country yesterday as Nigerians pondered the introduction of N5 tax per litre of imported fuel advocated by the Senate.
Individual Nigerians and groups who spoke with our correspondents in different interviews yesterday were unanimous in asking the upper chamber to drop the idea.
The Secretary General of Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF), Mr. Anthony N. Z Sani, amongst was the planned fuel tax ill-timed.
Among other proposals, the National Roads Fund (establishment) Bill 2017, which passed the second reading in the Green Chamber on Thursday, seeks the introduction of the tax on non-locally refined petroleum products.
The ACF scribe said that increasing the fuel pump price at a time most Nigerians find it hard to meet basic needs due to economic recession is not good for the country.
He is of the opinion that while “there is the need for sources of funding needed for maintenance of roads, the National Assembly should be more realistic when it comes to taxation and methods of taxing the people.
”He added: “Nigerians are finding it hard to take basic needs for granted due largely to the downturn in the economy.
“So, the National Assembly should consider the appropriate timing for any taxation. What is more, N5 extra per litre is like indirect tax which does not make the people feel civil sense of responsibility that government’s money is their own.“I would prefer some form of aggressive direct taxation at appropriate time, which would make Nigerians believe government is truly funded by tax payers’ money.“Such practice would make Nigerians hold government accountable and make the people make judicious use of their democratic rights and ensure that votes count so that the ensuing leaders would be accountable.“That would also make Nigerians to vote on real issues of real concern to real ordinary Nigerians as against the present practice where people vote more on religion and ethnicity, which are not helpful.”
