Speaking to Encomium magazine in a recent interview, Sunday said he trusts her because she stuck with him during their trying times.
According to him, “I am not afraid because when we had nothing, she was always there. If I said I needed this, she would give me. I am not afraid. If she is rich today, we both own it. I trust her for that. She has been a very good wife. I believe she will continue to be good.” Sunday told the magazine.
On how he feels about Olajumoke’s modeling job, he said: “Yes, I like it. I am really excited about it.”
He also revealed he had to woo Olajumoke for 6 months before she agreed to ‘befriend him’.
“She came to greet her grandma in my area some years back. She came from Lagos. She went to her mother’s younger sister, who introduced her to hairdressing. I used to go to where she was learning hairdressing to toast her but she insisted that she came to learn hairdressing and not to befriend a man. I used to go there often and after six months, she said yes, that was how it all started.

BIZARRE!!!!!!!!

14 CHILDREN FOR 14 DIFFERENT FATHERS

A Woman from Michigan gave birth to her 14th child for 14 Different Fathers.
According to the internationally recognized authority on the cataloguing and verification of world records, Anita Sullivan has just become the first woman in recorded history to conceive children with more than thirteen different men.
She said:
“I’m extremely proud to have broken a World Record,” Ms. Sullivan told reporters. “My mother always told me that I was lazy and worthless, and that I would never accomplish anything in my life. Now, I’ve shown everyone that she was wrong, and that I can even be the best in the world when I put my mind to something. In fact, I’ve just accomplished something that no one had done before!”
Anita Sullivan says she’s been unlucky with relationships in the past, but she believes that this time she may have found the man of her life.
“I’m good at having babies, but I’m really awful when it comes to picking the fathers of my children,” says the young woman. “This time, however, I think I’ve learned from my past mistakes. Ramón isn’t like all the jerks I’ve dated before. We’ve been together for almost a year and a half, and I really believe it could work between us.”

How air pollution causes infertility, birth defects

Majekodunmi Segun

For years, it has been understood that air pollution is one of the main problem the health sector of Nigeria is facing. Its effects on humans are detrimental and hazardous. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), air pollution is the disequilibrium of air caused by introduction of natural or man-made foreign elements which are injurious to humans.
This kind of pollution is generated mainly from vehicle emission, refuse and bush burning, exhaust from factories and industries, mining operations and indoor air pollution. For centuries, vehicles have offered man a level of mobility he could not have imagined by helping in the movement of people, goods and services, but in the process of doing these, it has also turned to agents that drive slow death through the dangerous fumes they emit.
As a result of this, we are being faced with aggravating problems which are increasingly affecting the health status of people in the country. A large percentage of urban air pollution is caused by vehicles. According to Dr. Emmanuel Odjadjare, a senior lecturer in the Department of Science, Benson Idahosa University, Benin City, the fume emitted by cars called car exhaust, are of different types and composition.
These fumes according to him are of different types and also perform different functions, but are effective in harming the body. Some of these fumes are carbon monoxide, nitric oxide, sulphur oxide, and hydrocarbons which are organic compound found in many places including crude oil and natural gas. One of the fumes Odjadjare listed is carbon monoxide which is a very poisonous gas that is a product of incomplete combustion of carbon.
“Naturally, we inhale oxygen as human beings, the haemoglobin transports oxygen through the body but when one inhales carbon monoxide, it displaces oxygen in the body and this limits the capacity of the blood to circulate oxygen”. He further said that as a result of the limited capacity of the blood to circulate oxygen, people tend to suffocate, “Once oxygen is not totally circulated through the body, to the brain, to the cells, to the tissues, the cells and the other parts of the body, when these parts of the body suffer from lack of oxygen for a long time, it kills the cells in those part of the body and can lead to death if not taken care of with immediate effect”.
According to Odjadjare, car exhaust pollution could also lead to defect in new born when pregnant women are exposed to high level of carcinogenic compounds, “When women who are pregnant are exposed to such chemical compounds that are carcinogenic, it could result into defect in new born babies,” he said. The fact that kids proportionately take in larger quantities of air compared to adults makes them more vulnerable to air pollution.
Children also tend to play outdoors more, engaging in sporting activities that speed up their breathing even more. Their lungs are also still developing and thus more vulnerable. Parents have to be especially vigilant about maintaining high-quality air in the house and noting days when the outside air is bad.
“For every problem, there is always a solution”, this same quote is applicable to the problem of car exhaust that the country is facing. Odjadjare who is also the president of Nigeria Young Academy said that this problem can be tackled from different perspectives.
He noted that the standard of cars imported into the country is low. “A lot of the ‘Tokunbo’ cars we buy very cheaply, are mostly cars that have been rejected as a result of their emission level, which levels has gone above the maximum set standard most of the developed world and these are what are brought down here, and we buy them cheap.”
He further said that if this issue really needs to be solved, the government must place strict regulations on the types of cars that is brought into the country, “we must be going for new cars and not just new cars, but new cars that level up to standard”. Odjadjare said, “if the government wants to address the situation, it could make sure that the kind of cars that are imported into the country meet specific emission standard that will not pollute the air.
The hazards highlighted above are corroborated in a new study which showed that air pollution and traffic fumes are tied to infertility risk. The United States (U.S) study published in the journal Human Reproduction, suggested that women who live close to major highways where the air is polluted by traffic exhaust fumes may be slightly more likely to have fertility problems than women who live further away where the air is cleaner.
Researchers followed more than 36,000 women from 1993 until 2003 and analyzed air pollution and traffic exhaust near their homes to see if what they breathed might be connected to their ability to conceive. Over the study period, there were about 2,500 reported cases of infertility. Women who lived close to a major roadway – within 199 meters, or about a tenth of a mile – were 11 percent more likely to experience this problem than women who lived farther from a highway, the study found.
“The risks are slight,” said study leader, Dr. Shruthi Mahalingaiah, a researcher at Boston University School of Medicine. According to another researcher at the Center for Research in Environmental Epidemiology and the Barcelona Institute for Global Health, Mark Nieuwenhuijsen, even the slight increased risk can present a big global public health problem.

Cleric seeks divorce from 4th wife over alleged constant beating of new wife

Segun Majekodunmi

A 60-year old Islamic cleric, Jubril Yusuf, on Wednesday urged an
Alimosho Customary Court
in Iyana-Ipaja, Lagos State, to dissolve his 23-year old marriage to
his fourth wife, Lateefat,
for alleged beating of his new wife. Mr. Yusuf told the court that
Lateefat, with
whom he had two children, had turned his new wife into a punching bag.
“Lateefat did not allow my new wife to have peace in the house as she
was always fighting
and beating her at will,’’ he said. The petitioner described Lateefat
as a troublesome woman that was always fighting him and in the process
would tear his clothes.
“My wife is a good fighter; she fights me regularly and always makes
sure that she tears my clothes into rags before leaving me. “She
always embarrasses my new wife and I in
public. Lateefat usually harasses and ridicules us.” he said.
The cleric said that he married another wife because his fourth wife
had stopped washing
his clothes for more than five years.
“I married another woman because my fourth wife refused to wash my
clothes and my other
wives cannot wash them because it is the duty of the youngest wife to
wash my clothes,’’ he
said.
According to him, he stopped eating foods prepared by Lateefat because
he was afraid she
might poison him. “My wife always tells me that if she knew that I was
going to marry another wife after her, she would have destroyed my
life. “So due to her statement, I stopped eating her food because I
don’t want to die now,’’ he said. Mr. Yusuf asked the court to end the
23-year-old marriage.
The cleric said that he was no longer in love and cannot cope with
Lateefat’s behavior
anymore. Also, the 52 year-old wife  a trader, admitted beaten up her husband’s
youngest wife. Lateefat told the court, “She looked for my trouble.
When I came to the house to see my husband in respect of my children’s
welfare, his wife started raining curses and abuses
on me. “So I descended on her because I am not her mate,’’ she said.
The mother of two said that her husband begged her to marry him then.
"He sworn with the holy Quran that he would not marry
another woman, he promised me then that I would be his last wife. “I
did not want to marry him because he already had three wives then.
“But when he begged me and sworn with the Quran then that he would not
marry another wife, I agreed to marry him but he failed to fulfill his
promise,’’ Lateefat said.
The respondent, however, pleaded that the court should not grant her
husband’s wish, claiming that she was still in love with her husband.
The court president, S.O Mumuni, admonished the couple to
maintain peace.
She adjourned the case to February 17, 2016 for further hearing.

Social Media relationship ends 14-year- old marriage

Majekodunmi Segun

The 14-year-old marriage between, Ishola Idris and his
wife, Bukola, has been nullified  by Alimosho Grade B Customary Court
following allegations
that the woman was involved in adultery with
men she met on the social media platform, Facebook.
According Ishola he had prayed the court separate him from his wife
because she was a serial adulteress who saw nothing wrong in sleeping
around with men, something that
caused unfaithfulness in the marriage which produced two children.
He also accused Bukola of using Facebook and
WhatsApp to connect with different men with whom she had sexual
affairs. To back up his accusation,
Ishola tendered computer generated evidences of
her conversation with her lovers in court.
He showed the court text message communications she had with the men
as well as printout of pictures of the men in question.
But his wife vehemently denied having any love
relationships with the men, telling the court that her husband was in
the habit of beating her up at the slightest provocation and starving
her anytime he was angry.
She also urged the court to dissolve the union as she was also fed up.

The race to study abroad

Majekodunmi Segun

One Canadian dollar at the official currency market currently hovers around N145, but it is just not available. At the ‘black market’ where most Nigerians are now forced to trade, a Canadian dollar is sold at about N250. Beyond this problem of the fall of the nation’s currency is also the challenge of posting money abroad following the Central Bank’s new policy on cash transfer.
The new policy, according to the Federal Government, is aimed at addressing the crime of money laundering and other corrupt practices. But despite these clogs, Nigerians have insisted that no price is too much to pay to acquire quality education, especially in a country as endowed as Canada.
This resolve was displayed last week by many students, their parents and guardians, who thronged the 12th edition of the Canada Education Fair Nigeria, which held both in Abuja and Lagos. Mrs. Kikelomo Danilola and her only child, Opeyemi, were among the participants at the fair, who had come to gain a clearer insight into the processes towards gaining admission into a university in a country they dubbed ‘promised land.’
Opeyemi had studied Accounting at a private university in Lagos, Caleb University, Imota, and was now willing to pursue a postgraduate degree programme in Canada. To her, the choice of Canada was based on so many factors, including but not limited to; job opportunities after schooling, conducive atmosphere for training, improved security of lives and property and easier access to other nations of the world.
When asked why the mother would be willing to allow her only child to go that far in search of education, especially considering the cash crunch back home, Danilola said nothing was too much to risk, towards achieving the best for one’s child. She explained that so many factors, including the desire to protect her daughter’s career and future, have been considered before arriving at such conclusion.
“She attended a private university in Nigeria here and I know what she went through to graduate. Do we talk about the infrastructural challenges? What about exposure and the after-study job opportunities? It is not easy for me to take this decision, but what better choice have we got? I hate capital flight but what are we doing here to stop it?
It is a decision difficult to take but the alternative of staying back home is not worth it,” Danilola said. Pupils of various secondary schools were also part of the fair, as they asked the representatives of the participating Canadian institutions various relevant questions. One of the them, a Senior Secondary School I pupil of Trinity International College, Ofada, Ogun State, Ololade Sowunmi, expressed her desire to study Journalism and Anthropology in any reputable higher institution in Canada.
Sowunmi, who is a member of her school’s Students’ Representatives Council (SRC), said her parents had encouraged her to opt for higher education in Canada because it that country was safer and economically buoyant. However, because Sowunmi could not find any of the 40 participating institutions combining both Journalism and Anthropology, she concluded that rather than opting to study in another country, she would choose either Journalism or Anthropology.
Sowunmi’s schoolmate and a science student, who plans to study Medicine in a Canadian university, said she was inspired by the nation’s health practitioners trooping to Canada to ply their trade. She said: “Rather than study here and travel later, I would prefer to study there so that I can easily secure my stay permit and secure a good job.”
Also, Jeffery Izuorah, an SS III student of the famous King’s College, Lagos Island, said because he hated crime, he would prefer to study in Canada “being a country not known for crime”. He said he would like to study Computer Engineering and that God’s willing, once he sat for the forthcoming West African Senior School Certificate Examination to be conducted by the West African Examinations Council (WAEC), his next assignment would be to process admission to the country.
He said, cash crunch or not, his parents had assured him that they had saved for the purpose and that God Almighty would make the dream come through. Apart from the staff of the various universities and colleges, who had come to interact with the participants, some of the schools also invited some Nigerians who are their alumni to share their experiences at the forum.
Mrs. Charity Oisamoje attended the Vancouver Island University, Nanaimo, British Colombia, Canada, for her Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) after graduating from Benson Idahosa University, Benin, Edo State. The former employee of Diamond Bank, who said she resigned in 2009 to enrol for the programme, described her experience in Canada simply as awesome. According to her, so many factors have made the experience incomparable with what she went through back home in Nigeria.
“The experience back home was hellish,” she added. Speaking at the opening session of the two-day event, which held at the Federal Palace Hotel, Victoria Island, the High Commissioner of Canada in Nigeria, Perry Calderwood, said in 2014 alone, 8,600 Nigerians were studying in Canada, even as he boasted that his home country offered one of the world’s best education systems.
“In this age of globalisation, education, innovation and knowledge are key drivers of the global economy. Education and research are priorities in Canada. “The Canadian government is committed to continuing to attract the best and brightest students to Canada,” Calderwood said proudly.

Effect Of Earphone

Majekodunmi Segun

Earpiece or earphone is not just a fashionable
accessory; it is a device used by Disco Jockey(DJ) to balance musical
sound and notes. In communication, it is used by many people to
isolate noise from the process of exchanging messages. In the media,
journalists transcribe audio message with the aid of earphone,
especially from midget or recording device.
There are currently about 12 million smartphone users in Nigeria. The
figure is rising and young people form the biggest patronage for these
gadgets given the complexity of most smart phones and the required
skills needed to navigate the phones. Equally increasing is the use of
earphones and headphones by this generation. With ears plugged
for a good numbers of hours, young people listen to music, recordings
and make calls using them.
The World Health Organization puts the figure of deaf people and
those with hearing challenge in the world at 275 million. This number
is different from those experiencing momentary deafness.
Asides the hazard that accompanies with the use of
earphones and headphones, there also exists noise
pollution from religious places, parties, clubs and factories with
heavy machinery. Research already points to the noise level from
earphones at their maximum level being similar to that of a jet.
Mr Tunde Faniran who identified himself as a Civil Servant " looking
round public places and higher institutions, it is a common sight to
see young people, especially students with earphones, firmly plugged
to their ears and listening to loud music blaring there from the
earphone. They nod to the rhythm vibrating from the accessory as they
walk down busy roads or streets.
Many of these people do not know the danger posed by their action.
Apart from exposing them to the risk of being knocked down by vehicle,
it is also dangerous to the ear and poses great risk to health"
For some, earphones have become some form of fashion accessory that
they could not go anywhere without it. Even hallowed and sacred
institutions like the church and school are not insulated as some
worshipers and students now display their ‘earphonemania’ in these
places, among other public places.
A Clergy who disclose his name as Mr Omoshola Godswill explain his
ordeal with a youth using earphones "I really don't understand the
mentality behind wearing headphones and earpieces by the road side.
Majority of Nigerian youths are guilty of this act.
I think its just reta.rded that they would do so by the road side. Are
they expressing freedom by that or whose life is in jeopardy? Just the
other day I was driving home and this dude was walking by the roadside
with this big earphone on and had already started drifting to the
road. It took just providence for me to spot him else I would have
cleared him off. He was right on the p road. And to make matters worse
he couldnt even hear my horn until I nudged him gently with my bumper
and then he went ballistic like Wetin dey do you? You dey kraze ni abi
you dey blind? Imagine that! and he was in the middle of the
road. More youths will start dying on this earpiece thing if them no take time"
A teacher, Mr Stanley Ossai, also expressed concerns akin to the
pastor’s. “It is not
uncommon now to see some students, especially those in the Senior
Secondary category come to class with earphones. Annoyingly, some of
them would want to wear it all through the lessons periods. How do you
learn when your ears are blocked?”, he queried.
The Basic Science teacher noted that the seizure of
some earphones by some teachers has “not served as enough deterrent to
some of these students as some of them are still in the habit of
wearing earphones to school”.
Damola Oduleye Revealed to our correspondent that "Listening to music
with earphones is not a problem but when both ears are exposed to
audible sound, the eardrum is damaged gradually and such person may.
Eventually go deaf. Often time, many
People are carried away by the music and they won’t hear vehicle
honking at them to stay away from the road. In the process, they get
hit"
Olaolu Oshungboye a student said "I was once almost knocked by a
Trailer if not for my friend who alerted me by slapping on my back it
would have been something else because my earphone was deeply plugged
in my ear since then I have reduce the use of earphone"
The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency has been busy in the
state policing noise pollution coming from religious places. The
National
Environmental Standards and Regulations Enforcement Agency
(Establishment) Act of 2007
remains the only law in Nigeria addressing issues of noise pollution.
Predictably, the Act is silent about
earphones and headphones. Its concern is for the public and not the
individual. In a conversation with a Student who identified himself as
Ayeni Tolulope explained that not all those with earphones on are
listening to
music. He mentioned that He uses it to
listen to audio lectures, Radio and also audio messages.
If you listed the benefits of earphones, you could probably go on and
on. You can use them to listen to music while working out, doing
chores or even while
waiting for a long bus ride to be over.  However, no matter how
awesome or beneficial earphones may seem, they
still have their downside such as;
Hearing Loss
One of the main side effects of listening to loud music is hearing
loss, people who listen to music at
volumes exceeding 90 decibels, can suffer temporary loss of hearing.
Sounds in this range can eventually cause permanent hearing loss,
especially to teenagers who wear their earphones for long periods of
time.

Decibel Ranges

Decibels are the measurement of loudness. If you listen to music at a
restrained volume, then you don't have to worry. However, if you
listen to music at the highest volume possible might want to consider
the following warnings. If you listen to your music usingThe unit of
measurement of sound is decibels. The
human ear is discomforted by any sound above 85
decibels. Earphones like the ones Lagos State University Teaching
Hospital plans to discourage can offer between 100 and 120 decibels
when used optimally; capable of landing one a visit with an Ear, Nose
and Throat (ENT) specialist.
earphones at 85 decibels, you can get permanent hearing loss if you
listen up to eight hours a day. At 88 decibels, you can get the same
result at just four hours of listening time. Now for the painful
truth, you can lose your hearing in just 15 minutes if you listen at
100-105 decibels.

Ear Infections

Since earphones are made for two ears, it is quite inevitable that
people share them. Regular use of earphones
can enhance the growth of harmful bacteria, and sharing or borrowing
earphones may just cause the
transfer someone else's bacteria to your ears. It is adviceable for
everyone to avoid sharing earphones. If it
cannot be helped, sanitize them before using.

Tips and Warnings

Do not use earphones that are inserted directly into your ear canals
because, even though they can make the music sound better, they
enhance the chances of hearing loss will also increase. You should
also try taking 5-minute breaks every hour. This will help your
ears recover from being bombarded by concentrated sound waves. Last
but not least, if you can use speakers at a moderate level instead,
then do so
because they will disperse the sound waves and not cause as much
direct damage to your ear drums.

I escaped from my husband and his Deceiving Prophets

Segun Majekodunmi

A Meiran Customary Court in Lagos has heard from a 43-year-old housewife, Titilope Alayande, how her husband, Johnson Alayande , intended to use her for rituals.

Elizabeth said, “My husband always trades with fake prophets. There was a day he visited one of these fake, devilish prophets who told him that the only solution to his problems was to use me for sacrifice. He was in that church when he called me on his mobile phone that I should come.
“On getting there, he gave me money that I should go and buy him a black duck, one black pot, five yards of white cloth, and two bottles of Goya oil. When I asked him what he wanted to use them for, he replied that I should not ask him stupid questions.
She added, “I had to agree with him. When I came back with what he sent me to buy, the duck was killed in my presence and I was asked to drink its blood. I was shocked, then I knew I was in grave danger. I bluntly refused and thereafter escaped to my house.

“The following day at about 5:30am, I noticed that something was on my legs, and since then, I have been unable to walk well. If not for the help of God and my family members, I would have been a completely paralysed housewife now.”

In his response to all the allegations levelled against him, Paul said the problem started some years back when his wife took one of his children to her village, and surprisingly when both of them came back, he discovered that the little boy had been infected with epilepsy.
He told the court further that his wife also used family planning pills without his knowledge.

The marriage was dissolved after series of adjournments.
